Webinar Recording Now Available: Dynamic Tracheal Access in the Video Laryngoscope Era

Pentland Medical is pleased to share the full recording of our recent educational webinar, Tracheal Access Geometry in the Video Laryngoscope Era, featuring Dr Sean Runnells, inventor of the Total Control Introducer.

The session explored a challenge many airway clinicians will recognise: achieving an excellent view with a video laryngoscope, but still encountering difficulty with tracheal access and tube delivery.

As video laryngoscopes become increasingly embedded in modern airway management, attention is shifting from the problem of “can’t see” to the problem of “can’t deliver”. The webinar examined why this matters, how airway geometry affects intubation, and where dynamic tracheal access tools may support clinicians in difficult airway and rescue situations.

During the session, Dr Runnells discussed how the video laryngoscope era is changing the theory and practice of tracheal intubation. Key themes included the limitations of traditional static airway introducers, the importance of understanding airway geometry, and the role of dynamic introducers in helping clinicians navigate the airway more effectively.

The webinar also included a practical overview of the Total Control Introducer, a dynamic airway introducer designed to support controlled tracheal access when tube delivery is challenging. Applications discussed included anticipated difficult airways, rescue airway management, double-lumen tube placement, microlaryngeal tubes and nasal intubation.

This recording will be of particular interest to anaesthetists, airway leads, ODPs, critical care teams, emergency medicine clinicians and healthcare professionals involved in advanced airway management.
