Pentland Medical have recently started working with a brand new technology designed to assist people living with Dementia. Otiom is the world’s first IoT based medical device, designed to prevent people with dementia from becoming lost. You can see further information on Otiom by clicking this link.

Working with Otiom has been a great learning experience for the whole team. It has involved researching dementia and the issues that people have to deal with every day; both living with the condition and supporting people who live with it.

In Scotland alone, over 90,000 people are living with dementia and this number is forecast to increase significantly in the coming years. Alzheimer Scotland are a charity looking to take action against dementia through fundraising and support from local people.

Pentland Medical walk the Pentlands!

With the lockdowns ending, Pentland Medical are looking forward to reuniting as a team.

Being separated from colleagues, friends and relatives has been difficult for everyone but the effects of the pandemic have caused further stress for those requiring specialist care. Lockdowns especially have meant those in need have had fewer opportunities to socialise with loved ones and it is now vital to support people living with dementia even more than before.

The Memory Walk is a unique opportunity to support Alzheimer Scotland by organising a group trek or long walk and raising funds to support a great cause in the process. It’s your walk, your way, so the Pentland Team have decided to get involved by planning a route from our office in the West of Edinburgh, up and over the Pentland Hills to the South of Edinburgh before finishing up at the Flotterstone Inn. In total, the walk is just under 8 miles and will take place on Friday the 17th of September.
